“We believe strong families are the backbone of a strong church and that healthy marriages create strong families.”
According to Pastor David Blythe’s vision for the Converge Couples Ministry is to compel couples to invest time and attention to their marriage. “We provide couples with a weekly opportunity to learn about marriage from a Biblical perspective and to equip them with the tools required to thrive.”
“Good marriages aren’t accidental. They occur when two people actively work at being a great husband or wife,” says Pastor Blythe. “Far too many couples never put an ounce of energy into being the kind of spouse they would be proud of. Converge exists to prevent the crisis mode from ever happening.”
Pastor Blythe’s wife, Lisa, co-teaches the Converge Couples classes with him. “We teach a very basic and yet essential lifestyle within marriage – Christ-likeness. If every couple would learn to live by this principle, we could eradicate divorce within the church. Marriage is an awesome covenant designed by God to bring us closer into the image of Jesus Christ. As we grow in Christ, we grow in our marriage; the two go hand in hand and cannot be separated.”
Because the Converge Couples Ministry is about nourishing relationships, it is also open to engaged couples. “We are committed to seeing that relationships are established between the couples of PFA for friendship and accountability purposes.”
Pastor Blythe also serves as the administrator of Kingdom Builders, a perennial giving program of those who give $2,500 or more above their tithes to pay for projects not included in the normal operating budget. Through this ministry, PFA has been able to build or renovate facilities that have made the PFA campus second to none. He also speaks regularly at the Wednesday night Fusion services.
An ordained Minister of the Assemblies of God, Pastor Blythe earned a Master’s degree in Ministry from Phoenix University of Theology and has studied with the Phoenix First Pastors’ College. During his time at PFA, he also served as the pastor of the young adult ministry and of the single adult ministry.
“PFA isn’t just your average church, it’s a destination! It is not just a community, but a family joined together to fulfill our destiny in Christ and to reach out to our world,” states Pastor Blythe.
