“We are a church that is passionate about winning the lost, helping the hurting, and providing all of our attendees an opportunity to volunteer in one of our 270 ministries.”
Pastor Jim Black manages the Phoenix First bookstore, which provides the congregation with resources to help them grow in their relationship with Christ. “My vision for the bookstore is to make sure that all of our resources are going to help impact the lives of members. We feature resources from Pastors Tommy and Luke Barnett and from our guest speakers.”
In addition, Pastor Jim oversees “The Ascent,” the Singles Ministry which meets Sunday mornings plus Wednesday and Saturday nights. “We have a very active group that is focused on serving our church through weekly activities,” he says. “My vision for the singles group is to grow a dynamic, soul winning group that is passionate about Christ.”
Prior to starting the singles group in 2009, Pastor Jim served as a volunteer pastor for eight years at Phoenix First. He is passionate about the way the teachings by the Phoenix First pastors help people develop their relationship with Christ and become effective witnesses where God has placed them.
Pastor Jim has done ministry work in Mexico by building facilities for missionaries. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biblical studies from Southwestern Conservative Baptist Bible College. He and his wife Erika are the parents of Gabrielle and James.
