“We have fantastic services. The people are wonderful. Phoenix First is the smallest feeling big church you will ever be a part of!”
Phoenix First services and special events are well-known for their inclusion of exceptional music and singing. For 10 years, the person wielding the conductor’s baton has been Associate Pastor Kris Hutson, who directs the church orchestra.
"Our vision is to help usher the presence of God into our services,” he says. “We strive for both musical and spiritual excellence.”
“We have a very talented group of instrumentalists in the orchestra that play at all of our services.”
Music is a family passion in the Hutson household. Wife Debbie is a familiar face as the flautist at Phoenix FIrst. Both Pastor and Debbie Hutson teach music at area schools. Their son, Stephen, is a percussion major at Arizona State University and plays in the orchestra for Phoenix First praise and worship and productions. Tiffany, their daughter, is an ASU graduate.
Pastor Kris has taken music missions trips to the Philippines and to Rio de Janeiro, as well as chaperoned 200 High schools students in Europe (England, France, Switzerland, Venice, Austria and Germany).
He has volunteered as a quiz master for the Phoenix First children’s Junior Bible Quiz and as a Royal Rangers commander. He is a licensed minister and received the Master of Music degree from ASU.
“There are so many avenues available for someone to get involved at Phoenix First. We are open to and welcome everyone,” he says.
