Since joining the staff in 2006, Luke’s leadership and vision has enabled Phoenix First to experience revolutionary change in the areas of assimilation and new program development. New ministries such as APEX, FUSION, Elevate Kidz, 360 Youth Ministries, PFA Sports, Converge Couples, website development, social networking, and The Gate Prayer Gathering are only a few of the ministries that have been developed under his leadership.
Luke is a main contributor to the teaching at Phoenix First. He is widely known as a creative communicator who possesses an innovative way of presenting the Gospel that captures listeners’ attention. His unique approach to ministry is an example of his commitment to reaching the lost and inspiring leaders to do the same.
As Lead Pastor at Phoenix First, Luke is responsible for directing the people and staff in deepening their relationships with Jesus Christ and each other. He is dedicated to prayer, biblical study and the establishment of Gods desired direction for the local church. The Lead Pastor posses the spiritual gifts of pastor/shepherd (Ephesians 4:11), teaching (1Corinthians 12:28), leading (Romans 12:8) and encouragement (Romans12:8).
He has also been actively involved in Creative Service Development and creating church growth. Luke has developed campaign and message series such as Your Great Adventure, Reconciliation-Bridging the Great Relational Divide, Pray Big, and From Fear to Faith in 40 Days.
Much like his father, Luke felt a need to encourage other churches and its leaders in the development of programs to support their ministries. In 2010 he introduced INNOVATE, an online ministry resource center. Innovate provides tools that equip pastors and leaders with ministry enhancements and creative approaches in the communication of the Gospel. Innovate resources are located at www.tommybarnett.org.
